Tonight we went to Madruga. It is amazing how different this trip is over last year. Last year we spent a lot of time on construction. Much needed construction. In the last two nights this year, I have spoken to and interacted with over 100 children. Very exciting. Right in line with my talents and gifts.
We arrived in Madruga tonight much like last night in Pedro Betancourt. Like rock stars! It was a great time. Same routine as last night. A church service where the church was packed! People in the streets all coming to hear the word of God. After the singing we took the kids to the back patio for the kids portion.
We stuffed over 60 kids onto this patio area and went to work. We started off with a magic show. We moved onto a craft and then did more magic. The craft was a pencil and beads. Heidi and Lauren did a great job of explaining the gospel using Black, Red, White, Yellow and Green beads.
Black = Original Sin
Red = Atoning Blood
White = Pure Grace
Yellow = The promise of Heaven and Golden Streets
Green = Spiritual Maturity and study
The kids seemed eager to hear it, learn it and take the pencil and beads away ready to share the news they had heard.
Here is a pic of the patio and the 60 something kids from Madruga.
Another long day. Touring Matanzas. Painting. The heat and another 11:00 p.m. night in the church. The pastors are so welcoming and gracious. Tonight they offered us drinks, fruit and cookies. They are so eager to share the work that God is doing in their cities. We are so fortunate to be a witness to thier work! Our heads wont reach pillows until after midnight again. But. But. He is sustaining us.
Here is a pic of us at the Oro Negro gas station getting snacks before the two hour drive back to camp.
Notice the two chairs in the cargo area of this van. That is where John and I sat. 10 of us in total in that van! No ac. No radio. Just an engine and windows.
