The 8th of June

June 8th, 2005 · No Comments

Today is a shorter day. No travel today. The morning moved slow but we got into some painting. The afternoon brought mail again. What a great way to keep a team encouraged. If the folks that are reading this sent a letter. Thanks. Thanks a million. It was drink for the soul.
This evening we are going to be in the church at Yumuri. That is the church located next door to the camp here. So no travel by van. That is good. I have been asked to share my testimony with the congregation. I dont have anything prepared.
Miguel and I spent some time together going over my testimony. He will be translating. It is hard to do that. You dont want to share too much, but you want to share. The highlights.
I grew up not knowing God.
I dated a girl in high school who prayed for me.
We broke up.
I started praying and yelling at God in the summer of 95.
I began attending Baptist Student events during the last semester of College.
I began dating the same praying girl again.
I began reading about Jesus.
I began reading the bible.
She was still praying for me.
I was invited to a men’s prayer group by a coworker in spring of 96.
I made a decision for Christ on July 26 1996 at a Promise Keepers event in Indianapolis.
On July 26, 1997 I married the praying girl from high school.
Anyways..

Tonight it went well. Over 100 heard my testimony and Over 60 kids showed up for our Magic Show and bead presentation. What a great night!
You can find a pic of me in the pulpit in the Cuba 2005 photo album.
The night ended with a walk back to camp. We played dominoes until midnight. It didnt seem right to go to bed early. Dominoes allowed me some time with Jobani and Martha. They are both camp staffers that we hadnt got to see much of this week. So staying up with them and playing dominoes was perfect.
These two pics are of me and the kids on the roof doing magic.
