Today was beach day. I had mixed feelings about beach day. We went to Veradera beach. To a resort. This is fidel’s method of raising cash for himself. Charging Europeans, Canadians and South Americans tons of money for decent resorts on the northeast coast of Cuba.
The beaches are very nice. Like I said last year, as good as any other Caribbean Isle. I wont repeat. But here is last years post on Veradera.
Different from last year was the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Arlene. Here is a shot of us waiting out the storm.

Even with the weather, we were able to swim and relax a bit. We called it an early afternoon and headed home.

A parting shot of the beach. Those two boys are Eli and Daniel. My surrogate sons for the week. Pretty beach even in the midst of a storm. Much like Cuba really. Her beauty is hidden beneath the ruler and imposed poverty. Just like the clouds lifting from the shore, Cuba will also have a burden lifted from her and her real beauty will show again.
