I read last week that ring tones for cell phones were higher on the UK music charts than Coldplay.
Then my friend Doug does this bit about Coldplay’s new album.
Somehwere I read that Coldplay is playing the overhyped G8 concert(s).
My question is this: Who is Coldplay. I have learned that I am way behind on my music.
I just heard that Smashing Pumpkins broke up. I learned this when I read that Corgan was trying to get the band back together for a little reunion album. It is becoming painfully obvious to me that Sesame Street and the Wiggles are getting too much play time at my house.
When did I get this old?
Update: I just checked out the Coldplay website. Had to register to get to the music samples. Not my thing. But okay. Sounds like commercialized Indie rock to me. By looking at the site. Looks commercialized too. Reminds me of me and my friends in high school. Trying so hard to not look like we shopped at the mall…by buying clothes at the mall..trying to not look like the majority…but ending up looking like a bunch of other people instead. That is what the vibe I got from Coldplay. Trying hard to not look like pop rock..but ending up being Pop rock. According to their webpage their little album x&y was one of the fastest selling albums of all time. Debuting at numero uno both in the US and UK. Cool.

Granted I’m older than you are, but I have teens, and once you have teens you become aware of bands you normally wouldn’t pay attention to. If given the choice of some of the really bad music out there right now that I find almost pornographic and Coldplay? I can handle Coldplay –

The new Coldplay is great. I’ve been listening to “Speed Of Sound” over and over and over and over…
