The Orange Conference

Posted on April 29, 2008

For my three readers, this is where I am this week.

Orange

Red and Yellow

Posted on April 29, 2008

Those two colors make orange. Why would I mention that. I am attending the orange conference in Atlanta this week.  So I didn’t run yesterday, instead I drove 583 miles south and got checked in last night.

This a.m. I ran a mile and walked a half mile. Too late of a night last night and too early this a.m. to run.  Will hit it again tomorrow and Thursday.

More about orange later today I hope.

8.5 to go

So today I hit the gym with wifey. She routinely runs a quick 10 miler on Saturday mornings while me and the two children are eating bacon and pancakes in our p.j’s. Not today. I went to the gym too. After a triple expresso I was ready to run.
Walked a 1/4, ran 1.5 miles!, walked a 1/4, ran another 1/2 mile and walked one more 1/2 mile stretch for a combined 3.0 miles at one time. 37:46 for a final 3 mile time.
I decided yesterday to run in the Lou Cox 5k on Memorial Day. My goal is to run the entire 5k without walking at all. I’ll keep you posted.

More than 1, less than 10

Posted on April 24, 2008

Today, I walked over to the gym. I had to stop by the Dayton courthouse and pay a parking ticket. This running thing cost me $15.00 this week. For one over due meter. Doesn’t seem constitutional really. But the appeal cost more than just paying the stinking fine. But I digress.

So having walked almost a half mile to the gym I started running when I got on the treadmill. So I ran. Like Forest Gump. I ran. For one mile and a 1/4. Wooh. I was tired. But then I walked a quarter and ran another half. Two whole miles in a pretty good time. I ran that first mile in a bit over 11 minutes. 11:04 to be exact.

But it was good. I think I am going to work up to running a full thirty minutes on Mon, Tue and Thursdays. Then work on my distances on Saturday’s when I have more time.

Oh yea. I brought the iPod today. Big help. Good music seems to be a real aid.
