So today I hit the gym at lunch. I used the Couch to 5K program and did the following:
Walk 1/2 mile, Jog 1/4 mile, Walk, Jog, Walk, Jog and so on for two miles. I was able to do this under 30 minutes. That was my goal since I have to drive to the Y, get on the treadmill, shower, and get back to work in an hour. I am going to search for a couch to 10 miler plan online in a minute.
My walking pace is 3.2 – 3.4 mph. My jogging pace is 5.2-5.8 mph. For those of you a bit slower, 5.0 miles per hour equates to a 12 minute mile. This is slow by most standards. My oldest son, he’s 7, ran a mile in 9:50 last week. My almost 6 year old did his mile in 10:07. My mile today was something like 14:50.
Plenty of time.

I thought why not me, and why not pick up a Jeep at the end as a bit of incentive.
