Catching up
Posted on June 27, 2008
Today I have the day off work. This is day one of a long deserved vacation. Will be golfing today. We drive to PA tomorrow and Melissa and I will be enjoying NYC by ourselves next Tue, Wed and Thur. We are both excited about that. Tonight is the Big A$$ Canada Day party. This is the second greatest social event of our year. The Pie Party is the first. Tonight it is all Canada ay!
Most important news today is that I have decided to run the 1/2 marathon in Columbus this fall. Not the fall of 2016. This year. 16 weeks from now. I have printed out my training schedule and it looks doable. Wifey is training again for the full marathon in Columbus. I made hotel reservations while in Columbus earlier this week and she has made the reservations for the marathon for us. Very excited. So..this little training/running blog will be active as I begin to turn this body into a semi-lean running jogging machine.
Will try to post photos from our PA/NYC vacation upon our return.

Used to could
Posted on June 13, 2008
My dad used to say that. In a sentence: “I used to could swim real good.”
I used to could run. It has been 8 days. My longest stint since starting this experiment. I have been working a ton on projects and been exhausted. Tonight was the first night I had been home for dinner in a week. Tomorrow. Tomorrow. 3.0 or bust. Got to keep pace.
Thanks for sticking around.

Hot and wet weekend
Posted on June 8, 2008
What a great weekend for all sorts of things..besides camping. It was hot, humid and the river was too high to swim, play or canoe in. Friday night had 10 dads and 15 children! Woohoo. This includes two brand new campers! What fun. Saturday saw the addition of 7 little girls to camp with the Yenovkian and Suddith girls. Saturday was spent playing in the rain, canoing around Cowan lake and swimming in the rain.
Saturday nights camp included 3 additional dads with three dads leaving early. 10 dads and 21 kids were the total that night! Very cool. A total of 24 kids and 13 dads for the weekend.
For the weekend the following awards were given out:
Most photos taken: Grace and John Cowell, Best food (adult division) Dandenault’s and Shelton’s, Best Food (kids division) John Cowell with the Fireside pizza pockets, Most Smore’s Consumed (27) Andrew Suddith, Most Band-Aids used (106) Gunner Pool, Coolest Thing witnessed, an unknown spider consuming the Cicada, Biggest Tent (Brandon Beal), Best Burger (Johan Botha), Best Matching Father/Child t-shirt, Eric and Benjamin Treadwell, Best Hot Dog Roaster, Don Yenovkian, Coolest Camp Gadget, Charlie Pool for the self contained gas powered french press coffee maker.
Photos to come soon!
Thanks for making it a great weekend.
