Recently I was challenged by a friend to get off my butt and lose some weight. I have never been small. But I have never been this big. Recently my weight has ballooned to 274-5. It wasn’t until recently that I was unable to find dress slacks and jeans big enough in a traditional department store. Humiliated is the word I would use to describe my feelings in the dressing room of the department store when the largest size they carried didn’t fit.
So my good friend Michael Dandenault challenged me to lose some pounds. I am totally capable. In 2008 I lost over 30 pounds while training for a half marathon (13.1 miles). All that weight came back during the following 28 months and then some. Now I find myself the biggest I have ever been.
That changes today. Here is how it works. Beginning on February 22, 2011 for 120 days, I will lose weight. My goal is 50 lbs. You pledge to the non profit charity I work for, a specific dollar amount per pound I will lose. I lose weight. The Kids of A Kid Again win!
My progress will be tracked on Facebook and Twitter. My list of pledges are kept in my Moleskine and are listed here as I get them:
